Church Acoustics Singapore:

The above photograph is of York Minster in the United Kingdom. It's a beautiful place of worship with excellent acoustic environmental characteristics. The architecture is a perfect example to acoustician whom wish to understand the fundamentals in acoustic control.

The construction of the church decorative features serve as acoustic diffusers; Whether that was the intention when the minster was first deigned and built is something that we would need to research into in order for us to comment further.
However what we can say is that these crafted repeated elements that form the architecture do have acoustic diffusive and refractive properties and these properties are not just a subtle effect they are as impressive if not better than acoustic panels and devices on the market today.

One you understand the history of a thing you know and understand a thing better and in better detail. Understanding how places of worship like cathedral, church minsters constructed in the grand ages give you the ability to design modern spaces or refurbish spaces with better acoustic understanding.

Modern church suffer from reflection, echo and reverberation issues as well as poor definition and perception of speech. This is due to the trend of minimalism in modern architecture unlike in the past. Thus resulting in the need for serious Acoustic mitigation measures to combat these issue effectively and create the design environment.

Using our Advanced Acoustic techniques and practices we are able to transform your place of worship into a a desirable acoustically sound environment. We do this by the use of acoustic diffusers and acoustic refracts with some sound absorption treatments to balance things out. We also look at the sound system and how we can ensure it has been specified or modified to ensure that it produces the right coverage which in our experience sound systems often need improvement.

Some of the examples of Acoustic Panels available for intergration into architecture seamesley.

Acoustic Timber Ceiling Louver Diffuser System 1
Dimensions
300mm x 1300mm x 50mm
This panel is perfect for enviroments wheby you are looking to take advantage of the natural envirment, save cost and blend Acoustic finishes with your interior design conceptions.

The Plank itself at a distance looks very simular to that of a normal louver however on close examination you will find there are some very specific texture and intricate details that create the desired acoustic results.
Sound Wave Diffusion Density Rating (DDR) 1.5/10

Acoustic Timber Ceiling Louver Diffuser System 2
Dimensions
300mm x 1300mm x 50mm
The tighter resolution system offers a higher level of reverberation time reduction in whilst overall diffusion is reduced. This is more suitable for enviroments where music is not used.
Sound Wave Diffusion Density Rating (DDR) 1.5/10

Acoustic Timber Ceiling Louver Diffuser & Reflector System 3
Dimensions
500mm x 1300mm x 25mm
The special characterisitcs of this panel is the abilty for it to be rotated whist install allowing for the acoustics of the ceiling to be changed depending on the final tuning of the room.

This comes in a manual and automated system of control.
Sound Wave Diffusion Density Rating (DDR) 1.5/10

Acoustic Timber Ceiling Louver Absorption System 4
Dimensions
600mm x 1200mm x 55mm
The absorbtion version is specially for situations where the enviroments have high ceilings or very poor control of the acoustics in the area causing high levels of reverberation.
Sound Wave Diffusion Density Rating (DDR) 1.5/10
